About the CIC Summit

Join us in Sacramento for the 2026 California Immunization Coalition Summit!

The 2026 Summit will offer a rich, interactive experience for participants and speakers alike. Our collective work in disease prevention remains vital, and this year’s event will feature insightful discussions, shared learning, and opportunities to build trust, strengthen expertise, and foster unity across the immunization community.

This one-of-a-kind Summit brings together clinicians, healthcare professionals, epidemiologists, pharmacists, school health leaders, and immunization partners from across California—and beyond. Attendees will gain deeper insights into vaccine confidence, explore effective communication strategies and statewide resources, and receive key updates on California’s immunization programs and initiatives.

With expert panels, workshops, and opportunities for collaboration, the Summit provides a unique space to connect with colleagues, learn from leading voices in immunization, and develop partnerships that advance vaccine access and disease prevention across the lifespan.

This year’s Summit will feature a variety of sessions including keynote speakers, panel presentations, with breakout /workshop sessions taking place on Thursday, June 4.

The Natalie J. Smith, MD Immunization Champion and the Ronald P. Bangasser, MD Leadership award winners will be honored at our annual luncheon held at the Summit on Thursday, June 4. See below for nomination process, nomination forms.

2026 CIC Summit Agenda

The 2026 California Immunization Coalition Summit will focus on using evidence-based data and clear, factual communication to guide our strategies for reaching communities and building vaccine confidence. Presentations will include updates from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), statewide partners, and local leaders who will share best practices for strengthening advocacy, improving awareness, and supporting California’s immunization programs.

Your participation in this statewide gathering will expand your knowledge of current immunization issues, communication strategies, and innovative approaches in public health. You’ll have the chance to connect with colleagues from public agencies, community organizations, and the private sector—helping us broaden the Coalition network and develop partnerships that advance education and community support.

The Summit is a valuable opportunity to renew our shared commitment to ensuring vaccine access and disease prevention for all Californians. We look forward to coming together again and reconnecting with you!

 

2026 Summit Objectives:

  • Share evidence-based strategies for building vaccine confidence and improving immunization uptake.

  • Support and strengthen education, communication, and community engagement efforts.

  • Highlight best practices that advance advocacy and partnership development statewide.

  • Review current recommendations, data, and emerging trends in vaccines and vaccine-preventable diseases.

Summit Agenda with announced speakers, workshop presentations and other information will be posted here as it becomes available. Posted Agendas are considered DRAFT Agendas and the times, speaker details and room location are all subject to change. Final Agenda will be posted around one week prior to the Summit. Continuing Education Credits (CME/CEU)

This education activity is being jointly provided by the Annenberg Center for Health Sciences at Eisenhower and the California Immunization Coalition.

CE credit will be available for clinicians (nurses, physicians, pharmacists).

Call For Abstracts

The California Immunization Coalition is seeking abstract submissions for workshop sessions at the CIC 2026 annual Summit on June 3-4, 2026 in Sacramento, California. Workshops will take place on Thursday, June 4th.

The planning team seeks presentations that can illustrate and support the following focus areas:

  • Specific Populations: Programs and Interventions that are tailored to reach specific populations (e.g., educational settings, pharmacies, workplaces, geography, age, race/ ethnicity, risk, etc.).
  • Tools and Strategies: Development and implementation of effective tools, techniques and strategies to improve immuinization rates (e.g., training, education, operations, outreach, vaccine storage and handling, etc.).
  • State and Local Advocacy: Projects that support state and local advocacy on vaccine issues, or improve skills in program planning, policy development, and promotion of legislation.
  • Clinical: Clinical updates regarding vaccines and vaccine-preventable diseases.
  • Media: Creative methods using both social and traditional media to promote vaccination.
  • Other: Don’t feel limited to the categories above. Tell us what your are doing and how it worked.

Abstracts are encouraged from all disciplines, including coalition members, immunization program staff, community- based organizations, health care providers, governemtn and non-government agencies, health communications specialists and others interested in immunization issues.

Abstracts are due by Friday, March 13, 2026. All abstracts submitted will be acknowledged, and the Summit Planning Committee will reply to primary authors by Friday, March 27, 2026. CIC is happy to announce that we will offer a 5% discount on registration fees for presenters whose presentation is accepted.

The 2026 California Immunization Coalition Summit will be held at the Sheraton Grand Hotel  located in downtown Sacramento, California. Other downtown hotels, including the Hyatt Sacramento are located nearby.

The Summit Planning Committee has negotiated a great rate for Summit attendees at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento Hotel and we recommend you book early.

Travel

Downtown Sacrmaneto is approximately 20 minutes away from the Sacramento International Airport. If you have not visited Sacramento or the downtown area surrounding the Sheraton Grand Hotel before, we encourage you to come early and explore and enjoy the historic buildings and the area. Downtown Sacramento offers a variety of award-winning restaurants. Please visit the Visit Sacramento website for a list of nearby restaurants and things to do during your stay.

Flying:

Sacramento International Airport (SMF) is approximately 12 miles away with a wide variety of rental car or ride share options.

Driving:

The Sheraton Grand Sacramento Hotel is located in downtown Sacramento. Please refer to your preferred GPS App for directions to each location.

Sheraton Grand Sacramento offers overnight valet parking for $45 per night.
Valet parking includes full in-and-out privileges and is subject to availability.
A public self-parking garage located at 900 13th Street, Sacramento, CA 95814 offers an hourly rate of $6 or an overnight daily rate of $30.
Please note: the public garage does not offer in-and-out privileges.

Activities

As part of your registration fees to attend our annual Summit we will host a 1- hour reception on Wednesday, June 3 with light appetizers and a cash bar. On Thursday, June 4, 2026 we will hold a luncheon where we will honor our Immunization Champion Award winners and special guests. We will close out the Summit on Thursday, June 4th with a fun raffle. Refund Policy:

Cancellation requests need to be made in writing by letter or email to info@immunizeca.org (no phone calls are accepted) and must be made prior to April 6, 2026. Approved cancellations will be refunded to the original payment source and will be charged a 30% processing fee. Refunds will not be made for cancellations after April 6, 2026 or for no-shows. Hotel cancellations are between the attendee and the hotel.
