Messages to consider with social media posts:

  • Protecting children is our top priority and California providers will continue to use evidence based science to inform decisions and recommendations.
  • Health professionals who care for you and your child want to answer your questions and concerns. Talk to your doctor, or other health professional you trust.
  • We have always had ‘shared clinical decision making’. Aka having a conversation with your doctor, pharmacist, nurse to decide what’s best for you or your child.
  • California parents can tune out the negative noise about vaccines.  Protecting children is a pediatrician’s top priority.
  • In California, we vaccinate to protect our entire community
  • California healthcare providers are focused and unbothered by the noise that’s buzzing around us.
  • In California, we are unconfused about what vaccines are needed to keep children safe. We follow science and evidence.
  • Our state and local health departments will continue supporting families and children with:
    •  Clear information about vaccines
    •  Access to vaccines for all children

Medical Exemption Access Launched For CA Providers

The CDPH Immunization Branch has launched the new registry website for managing physician generated medical exemptions from school required vaccinations.
In 2019, State Senator Richard Pan, MD, authored an important bill to require that only licensed physicians can write medical exemptions from vaccination and further required that the California Department of Public Health develop an online system to facilitate and store this information for providers, schools and parents.
The California Immunization Registry (CAIR) team made it happen on time. To learn more about the new law go to ShotsForSchool.org. To learn about implementation of new procedure go to CAIR Medical Exemptions- School and Childcare site for more information about registration for providers.

CIC offers a variety of resources to support your local immunization efforts. We are constantly adding helpful tools, materials and links, so check back often!
