Hepatitis B Education and Immunization: Liver Cancer Prevention Begins at Birth

The topic of discussion will be Perinatal Hep B and our speakers will look at the current status of Perinatal Hep B immunization issues, including implementation of the birth dose by hospitals and approaches to educating high risk populations on the importance of the vaccine.

OBJECTIVES
By the end of the call, participants will be able to:
- To understand the risks and risk factors of chronic hepatitis B infection, the importance of infant/childhood immunization and the barriers to effective prevention in the clinical setting.
- To understand the goals of the California Perinatal Hepatitis B Prevention Program (CA PHPP) and the role it plays in perinatal hepatitis B prevention in collaboration with local health jurisdictions, hospitals and clinicians.
- To understand and identify the educational resources available for hepatitis B education from the CDPH and the Asian Liver Center at Stanford University.
